Non-powered flight.......

For Sean........seeing as how you've taken to powerless flight lately, I thought I'd toss a few your way from where I used to live in Ontario. Erin Soaring was one concession and half a line away from where I was in the country, northwest of Toronto. They had a winch which I never saw in operation, and they had an overworked 150 hp Citabria. On any given weekend of the summer, I would see these in constant circuits and some would disappear for hours and return late in the afternoon.

Firstly, this Twin Lark. I was fortunate enough to grab a ride in this one twice, and got my hands on the stick for most of both flights after release.

No rides in this one for obvious reasons (single place)

Some strange looking but understandably clean machines......

And the little plane that could - the workhorse of the club...

As it came to be known that I built and flew my own R/C gliders, I became the only non-member who was allowed to assist in ground ops when there were no others available and the pilot of the tow plane and glider wanted to take advantage of conditions......

And one last familiar one, the infamous 233........

Images are from 2MP camera I used back in 2001.....my apologies if the shots aren't up to par........

That last pic is beautiful, a field of dandelions.  And that hat you have on in the last pic looks suspiciously like Sean's... ;D  Perhaps I need to find one of those  :)

Only thing is, that guy is in front of my camera, I'm behind it....but I do have one of those hats from my R/C flying days.......

Oops, I thought you were implying that it was you helping launch the bird, either way, a terrific shot!

If it hasn't got an engine I won't trust it! Nice photos Ken ;)

I used to think that way until I realized that the worst thing that can happen to a glider pilot is having the towplane's engine fail. ;) :D

Not to good for the tow pilot either... ;D

Engines: too many moving parts, and so noisy!  :P

Those are some nice ships, there... one could easily make an afternoon off one tow in one of those glass beauties.
