My step son shipped out for another deployment at the end of August. He sent me some pictures his qualifying with his ships 25mm automatic cannon. He was on the bridge of his ship sighting the target through a camera. He took three shots to kill the target. He had the best first time qualifying on the ship.
The ship was being attacked by "Killer Tomato's!"

Target sighted.....

Wiggled it...

Not being an expert on the Naval 25mm Auto....I'm assuming the splashing is the round skipping on the water.... :-/
Rats, winged him.....

Gotten EM'

Evil looking tomatoes! ;D
Nice shots, he must be pleased with those results. What's next? Canon-battery? Will whipe out an entire tomatoe-plantation in one round! :)

Terrific pictures!!!
The splashing is actually the series of rounds fired, I'm not sure what the rate of fire is for the 25mm but it looks to me like he was trying to "walk" the round to the target, a common practice we use with the 50 cal.
When I was on the USS Pele Leu they did a demo where the ship was under attack by anti ship missles, they fired the 25mm at the imaginary enemy and then used the 20mm (i think, soething like that, it's an automated gun though, fired with a joystick) to shoot down the missle. That gun sounded like a buzz saw!!!
When the round skipped on the water one skip was over hundred meters long :o Lucky guy getting to shoot the gun, all I could do was observe.

I have no idea what it is? I just found the picture Googling "Killer Tomato's" and thought it was funny.
