Last day of August at 47N- pt 3
Not knowing the gentleman who passed away, instead of heading over to the Breezy hangar for the memorial "service" Herb, Greg and I retired to the glider club "lounge" on the other side of the field to debrief, fill in the logbooks, and just gab for a while in air-conditioned comfort.
Got so comfy I forgot about the missing-man formation! I heard them going overhead, and dashed out just in time to get this snap... d'oh.

The Yak flew the "missing man" role, climbing out of formation, then coming back over the field to do a few rolls. I believe it then joined up with the 172 to make the ash drop over in Watchung.

The others returned shortly: here's Mike in his Tiger.

Someone else was flying the Citabria...

Not sure if this 47N-based 150 was part of the formation, but it sure looked great coming in for a nice short-field touchdown on 25. The pilot is making the most of the sloping displaced area to land right on the threshold.
