So my buddy (my old boss from Hawaii) sends me a text message saying he and a friend chartered a fishing boat off of Oahu and his friend hauled in a 300lb Marlin...I call shennanigans unless he shows some proof, well, he sent me this pic from his cell phone, WOW.  The guy in the pic is my best friend, he stands 5'1" to give you an idea how big the fish is!!!  Hour and a Half to reel it in.  I sure do miss Hawaii.

That is a big one :O

Marlin fishing, that's something to do before you die...and if you get a catch like that, then you're not doing too badly! (Marlins are big, but that one is a monster! :o)

Hour and a half to reel it in.  They chartered the boat as a last hurrah before they head to Afghan for a year, and they got their money's worth haha

Nice catch... but poor fish... in the pride of it's life.

What happens next? Is it used as food? Or just exposed off?

Mounted as an hood ornament for goosing your way through crowded streets..... ;)

Or if you can have them mounted in many different ways. This is one way-

I'd prefer a full side mounting with the leg and flipper myself. Makes for a great conversation piece at parties....lmao

Per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marlin

Marlin are rarely table fare, appearing mostly in fine dining restaurants. Most modern sport fishermen release marlin after unhooking. However, the old fisherman in Ernest Hemingway's novella The Old Man and the Sea was storied to have caught an 18-foot marlin in order to sell its meat at market.

Some marlin that are top record setting fish are taken and weighed on shore. Those records are most often recorded in the IGFA World Record Game Fish books.

He's getting it mounted (side mount) He didn't mention any plans for the meat...I suggested that picture you posted Romulus but he politely declined stating something about his wife and interior decorating... ::)
