Did ayone happen to go to The RAF Waddington International Air Show yesterday and photograph a very large friendly looking moth..........well that is what my wife thinks it looks like anyway. I am on holiday in foreign parts and read about it on the BBC.........saying that with the way the BBC get it's fact wrong, this could also be wrong display, wrong day and the aircraft was really a Cri Cri ;D

Now that was interesting, I was under the impression that the BBMF never flew with civilian pilots or civilian held warbirds/other aircraft. I have seen many examples of large warbird fly by's where the BBMF always hang back and then flys past, with the explanation that the do not fly with others.

I was seriously tempted to pull a sickie at work yesterday to go to the airshow as there were several reports she would appear. Unfortunatly the weather put me off the choice. ::)

I'm pretty sure the BBMF have participated in Duxford tailchases before....

They've relaxed somewhat it seems, particularly following the lead of the RNHF, and often the formations are with very experienced RAF pilots in the non BBMF aircraft.

As an aside, in this case the Vulcan's chief pilot, Dave Thomas (Sqn Ldr Rtd), was until a few years ago one of the Lancaster captains with the BBMF when he wasn't QFIing at Cranwell. :)

I went today.
No vulcan flying due to a fault in No.3 engine but it did do a taxi run.
Also when I said 'went' it was more like getting dropped off on the road under the appoach.  :P

I was thinking about going, and I know some friends were too... but school and other commitments got in the way. I would have probably been able to meet someone from my RAF Waddington visit in February there again.

Maybe another one. I still want to see one of the Red Bull flying thingies (be it the air race or the idiots-in-make-shift-planes one)

Not "freeloading" were we?

I was only there for a bit.
And it's not as if I was the only one.  :P

And to be fair, at many places *cough*Yeovilton*cough* you're better off not paying to get in for the best photos etc....

As long as you don't complain when aircraft get grounded due to lack of funds then (Vulcan/Vixen/Sally B/Canberra etc etc)... ;)

Or sue if one crashes on you... :P
