Sampson AFB Museum

A few pictures from my vacation. Sampson was opened as a Naval Traning Station on Seneca Lake (2nd deepest lake in the US and the biggest of the finger lakes) It was used to train sailors for service in WW2 in the 50s it was converted into a AFB

First 2 are a couple nice shots of the indoor museum

I would of took more of the artillery guns and 2 PT boats but the lil kids where all over them and I couldnt get a good shot

Looks like a cool little museum.

That first plane is a North American T-2 Buckeye; very successful Navy trainer.

Thats the good ole T-2 Buckeye.  We used to see those over the Gulf of Mexico training a lot.

Too bad I didn't know you were in the area. I live on the east side of Cayuga lake. Been to Sampson a few times. They have really done a lot of work.
