Seriously, though- i hear you.  I definitely get that feeling when I see them taxi or fly: they're time machines.
It's sobering to think of kids- even the commanders were rarely over 22- not only handling these machines, but taking them into combat. And very few of them had much flying experience, other than a brief period of intense training... we see the old hands nursing them along nowadays, and forget who was intended to fly them.

Been looking forward to these ones, great shots of one of my favourite aeroplanes (airplanes).

Yes sir!!  So many 50 cals on one bird, when it absolutely positively needs to be destroyed, this is the bird to send!!!

A few weeks back there was a special Doolittle Raiders event at the air force base by me where they had Doolittle's actual co-pilot (now 92 yrs old) fly in on one of the B-25's. Apparently they practiced at Eglin AFB before being sent over to Japan, perfecting their risky carrier takeoffs.

I sure wish I could have made it there! Nice pics, the B-25 has always been one of my favorites!

I've always been a huge B-17 fan, but I'm warming up to the Mitchell. A high point in my life was taxiing in front of one in San Diego (the Red Bull participants, including the display warbirds, were staged there during last year's race). They did their run-ups while we were holding short for takeoff... I could feel it in my belly.
