A camera that take a shot only when your smile? is it true? I think is a sony

How can it be ?

I don't know about only shooting smiling faces, but my new SD1100 has the ability to guess at what might be a face within the field of view it's pointed at, so it can make sure the focus is on the face(s), even if there are other objects closer.
 I haven't tried it yet, but it's probably just a relatively simple program that analyzes the image and "knows" what a human face looks like.


"Face Detection. Before you even half-press the shutter, the Canon's Face Detection finds and brackets all the faces it it recognizes. When you press the shutter release, it picks the faces it can keep in focus and puts a green box around them. After capture, it zooms in on the most clear face it found so you can check focus and exposure. You can use the zoom toggle to get in closer, and press the Set button to switch between the faces to check them all."

It's believed that the human brain recognizes faces the same way (dimensions, not shape or color). If you saw an old friend with sunglasses and a fake nose and beard, you might still recognize him, because his "nodes" are in your brain's database.

Smile Shutter cameras have been a newer feature among (mostly) Sony cameras. It's not a gimmick at all! (The smile shutter does work!)

It won't take the picture unless the person is smiling. Really smiling. No half-arsed smiles here.

It's definitely a nice toy, but nothing completely special.

I like my DSLR thank you!  I can see a face and focus on it no problem, and I can choose what kind of smile my subject will have!

This is unbelievable  :o If a thing with a size of an old cassette can do this ,recognize an emotion ,Read the face at that's speed we are really close to a Not just a AI the relevant thing is a consistences a artificial life..

and not too far in the next 10 years before 2020 machines will arise by destroying almost all human being  then they going to create a machine to destroy humans and send one into the past  looking for Sarah Connor and to avoid the birth Of John Connor we got to kill that guy of OCP in Detroit  :-/No wait a second that one doesn't belong here  :P I mean we got to kill that black man that is studying the chip...

   

Now serious how such a very small thing can make a recognition of the geometry and shape of your face? Personally this is a hude step,for example ;  make a curiosity software , and learning abilities by recognition systems like this Because soon won't be just a face,will be  furnitures pets , walls , Soon we will start talking to our pcs ...Like Good Morning Dave, this is ALR9000  ;D

Many of my friends that have shortly lent my camera, have frequently asked me: Why cant you see the picture on the LED Screen (Live-view function as on pocket cams)
Live-view is just an unnecessary function for the amateure photographers..

Just my opinion of course, some photographers may be by another beliefs..

I can see some situations where live view would have come in useful for me.....ie. putting the camera on a wall or holding it up to get over a fence and being able to see on the LCD what I'm taking a picture of....

That is what it is meant for on DSLR and likewise camera's from what i know.

Sounds as bad as Burnout's "Crash Cam"

Apparently if you have a vision camera on your Xbox 360 it photographs your reaction. Unfortuntely it doesn't really work as noone gives a damn about it  ::)
