MAAM WWII'08: part 8-Gooneys!
Lots of lovely Douglas products... unfortunately, the museum's won collection was left over by their hangar on the other side of the field. some day i have to go over there and check out that museum... but meanwhile, although it's not technically a Gooney, here's the excellent C-54 that makes it here almost every year. It's done up inside as a flying Berlin Airlift museum. I believe I showed some pics of the interior in last year's MAAM WWII Weekend post.

It was taxiing in when I arrived, then they parked it. not sure if it flew that weekend at all; maybe on Sunday?

A proper Gooney Bird: the American Airpower Museum's C-47 Second Chance.

A very well-done seminar on D-Day airborne ops was presented alongside this magnificent airplane... I felt sorry for this guy in all that gear; it was about 100 F and very humid.

Speaking of gorgeous airworthy Gooneys... it was good to see this ol' gal again- the Yankee Air Museum's Yankee Doodle Dandy. a mouthwatering big hunk of aluminum!!
