Was a good day out.
Sadly the new blue eagles debut was ruined by an APU fire with the apache after he departed so we were left with just a lynx solo, which while entertaining was dissapointing considering they dropped the gazzles.
As usual the weather was poor so dont expect miracles.

Considered going, but then saw the weather and the fact I have exams next week  :P

Aside from some cloud and a bit of moisture in the air it was a nice day. No rain at all, bit chilly as it was only 16*c. It just meant it was a lot of flat and rolling displays.
Obviously the only annoyance was the fact the apache had to make the emergency landing in a field off the airfield. Would have been nice to see him do at least a fly past when he came back but I guess the safety guys said no.

I was wondering what the Blue Eagles were doing this year.....at Old Sarum the Lynx took off with a gazelle but only the Lynx returned giving a solo....does the new display leave out the gazelles all together and put in an Apache instead?

thats what I could gather from the commentator. I believe they are running so low on operational gazzles that they cant spare the 4 they need for the eagles.

Did the solo Hawk appear at Cosford?

He did but we were stuck in a traffic jam just outside when he kicked off the display. Apparently did a very good display even with the conditions. Only caught a glimpse of his display.

Mmm, he cancelled going to Old Warden...

the vampire refueled at shawbury after displaying at cosford. He was parked at cossie but never returned after his display.

Got shots of the Vampire and the Hawk at Shawbury.....I'll check my photos to see if there are any clues what happened to the Hawk. Not sure if he returned to Shawbury after the display

the only thing I would say was a little suspect was it was a short display. only 8 minutes and probably not even that, it was only about 4 passes in total then he shot off. No idea if he developed a problem during the routine.

Oh well... but still, some good shots of some mean-lookin' whirlies.
