I figured I would share some pics from  today. We decided to take the Ferry from Ft. Mott in Salem County, NJ to Ft. Delaware which is situated not  far from the C&D canal

She looks sea worthy

We were on the top and in the front of the ship during the trip over, it was a nice 15-20 minute trek.

Here is a shot of the fort from the ship.

Fort Delaware is an old Union Army prison which held Rebel POW's along with average citizens who were accused of treason. Its an old timey Guantanamo Bay ;) This shot is my attempt at artsy fartsy
Image

This is a replica of the prisoner barracks, the fort held up to 14,000 - 18,000 prisoners, some wrongly accused as was the case of Reverend Isaac W. K. Handy who spoke poorly of the flag ::)

There was a live fire demonstration which was pretty cool, my son thought it was the bees knees

And finally my son along with some other brats were offered the opportunity to join the union army

All in all we had a great time today, the weather was spectacular and I can't think of a better way to spend the holiday. Thanks for looking at these shots :)

Thanks for the comments guys ;) If you go the ferry only runs during the weekends, except for national holidays.

It was nice to finally let work go for a few days and spend time with the family :D
