New Camera

Right guys I am in the market for a new digital camera as we are going to America and I would like a decent camera (for the grand canyon and all that!)

Dad has the Fuiji Finepix F810 (which is 8MP although websites say it is 6) and I really like it. However they don't come up on the bay very often and they are now a discontinued product.

However there are some features it must have

Take a look at the Casio EX-V7...... 7 MP , and for holidays, will shoot fine vids for as long as you have batteries or storage space.........this camera has a great 7x optical zoom too ! 8-)

Presently in Canada, they are selling for around $200.......have a dock (cradle), use NP-50 proprietary batteries(available from eBay cheap), metal body, and there is Image Stabilization in two versions in the camera.

Both Wendy and I have one each. It makes a great compact camera to carry all the time, and, the lens transit is in the body, so there's no protruding lens to bash and knock out of whack !

This is a selection of compactcamera's within your budget. From this list I'd pick the Canon powershot A590 IS as it has the best reach and image stabilisation, which can be usefull when there's less light available.

For about 40 Pounds extra you can buy the Powershot A720 IS. This camera gets a very good review on dpreview. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona720is/

Then you also have the bridgcamera's, who work full automatic, but also allow you to experiment with the settings.

The Fuji s5800 costs 104 Pounds and should be very good. Nice 10x zoom and known for low noise-levels in the pictures.

The Panasonic FZ8 and FZ18 offer even better zoom, but here the prices are rising quickly, so you perhaps you don't plan on spending that much.
