Camera phones a curse or and opportunity

Having spent the last week in hospital..........had my tonsils removed and at the age of 40 I can assure you all it is no fun at all (it took me 1 hour 20 minutes to eat a soft boiled egg and a slice of bread this morning :'(), anyway away the sympathy digress, after all in the dictionary, sympathy comes between sh#t and syphilis ;D I will get to the point. Naturally I did not have my camera with me, just my mobile/cell/handy. My father in law picked me up and on the way home, at some traffic lights in the town a helicopter went over head very slowly at about 100 feet. It touched down just as we passed. I was able to get a quick shot.

No accident to be seen, but opposite is a factory, I assume an industrial accident as the hospital is just around the corner. This type of chopper in this livery is know as "Christoph 13". Named after a boy, Christoph who was critically injured in a road accident at the age of 13.  A rescue helicopter would have saved his life, but at this time Germany did not have them. His parents campaigned tirelessly to change this. End result is in the picture. I believe there is quite a fleet of them now. Maybe a German member could add to or correct me, but that is my understanding of them. Just about the only aircraft that can fly VFR in a straight line from take off to patient and if that means a 747 on go around, around he goes. This baby has priority..............and when you are on base leg in a glider and over the radio comes his call, it gets interesting, but that was many years ago and another story.

That's a nice shot. Camera phones seem very sophisticated now. Some have a better spec than my new digicam.

The original is a lot better, compression did the picture no favours. The phone is 3.2 mega pixels, better than my first two digital cameras.

Wow!! Very impressive for a camera phone!  :o

And sure, they are an opportunity for moments like this... and a curse if you're inclined to do embarrassing things in public. ;)

Tonsillectomy at 40? That's a bit late... I guess I'm lucky I had mine out when I was about 5, although it was traumatic for me. Only time I've ever been on an operating table, and I didn't like it one bit.
The only good part was having ice cream whenever I wanted for a week or so afterwards... ;D

I've just got a new phone, and now use it to also replace my small camera, which was 3 years old and 3.2Mp. The phone is 5.1mp.

I have only had my phone since last August and it is already 1.9mp out of date by the look of it ;D

Well the boy called "Bjorn Steiger" (~DRF- Steiger Stiftung), Christoph is the patron of car drivers, 'cos in former times most opterations were car accidents.

On thje pic you see Christoph 13 from Bielefeld, a relative new EC-135 T2i

Thanks for that Julian. I have learnt something new today.
