Met this snappily dressed young lady while out putting the washing on today....







This was the size of the top joint of my thumb, no little wasp this, but a big old hornet  :o

Quite slow and dopey in the cold air today, but I don't want her setting up home by our washing machine for the warmer months  :-/

I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to stinging things, don't tell the kids though  ;)

I daresay the flash would have upset the hornet. I wouldn't want to get close to an angry hornet, even a drowsy one.

Hope you used a nice 400mm zoom and not macro
