Hornet, up close and personal....

Met this snappily dressed young lady while out putting the washing on today....

This was the size of the top joint of my thumb, no little wasp this, but a big old hornet  :o

Quite slow and dopey in the cold air today, but I don't want her setting up home by our washing machine for the warmer months  :-/

I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to stinging things, don't tell the kids though  ;)

I daresay the flash would have upset the hornet. I wouldn't want to get close to an angry hornet, even a drowsy one. :o
