EHAM 05-05-08 Part 3: Waving pilots + takeoffline

When the planes taxi towards the most western runway they come close to a gate, this is a favorite place to photograph and watch the planes for a lot of people. Most pilots that are familiar with this airfield will start waving as soon as they come out of the turn.

Im unfamiliar with that phrase, mind explaning what 'getting on a bit' means?

look at the KLM planes do they name their jets or is that like a KLM slogan?

(under the cockpit each line of text is differnet)

I don't recognize "Velk", but "Vasco da Gama" rings a bell... he was a Portuguese sea captain who was the first so sail from Europe to India (1498-99).

Thanks, although im still not quite sure what you mean with it, do you mean the plane is getting physicly old, or that the photo's of it are getting old and boring?

I'd venture to say physically old, seeing how it's a -200 (probably made in the mid-80's).

LOL i just meant the aircraft is getting old! Not your pictures! I actualy looked up NWA's website, it may be a 200F although i dont know.

I see, i thought that NWA had all of the 747-200's removed from there fleet? Or am i wrong?

It apears that this is one of the last remaining 2 747-200's flying for NWA. It also fly's military charters to kuwait.
