Great spot at KMYR!

Out on some errands this afternoon, I decided to look around for a decent place to get some pics of traffic at the airport... little did I know that Myrtle Beach rolls out the welcome mat for spotters!! :)

It's not very close to the action, but if planes are landing on 36 or taking off on 18 there's a lot of potential. I just think it's amazing that any city in the US now would encourage people to sit and watch or photograph the planes. Excellent. :)

At the SW corner of the field, there is a little park, with benches near the fence for comfortable viewing... and a mini-museum!! Some awesome warbirds on display there...

There had been Hercs doing crash-n-dashes on Rwy 18 for hours, as usual... and of course as soon as I sat down near the fence, there was a lull of about 1/2 hour. ::)
But there was another interesting bird present...

My battery was low and the spares were in the hotel room, but I did get one decent snap when the C130 training flights resumed. I'll probably be back a little earlier tomorrow...

Looks very civilised. Seems there is some hope after all. ;)

I liked South Carolina. Nice part of the world.

No, it's the same Class C county airport I arrived at when I flew down here. Not sure if the C130s are based there, or if they just do pattern work there.

Sounds a lot like EBOS ( Ostend) in Belgium... mainly a cargo-airport, but e3's AND c-1304S do touch-and-go's overhere???

Diff'rent camera Sean ?.......First three are looking very good quality for a cel phone........ :-?

I'll expect more of these kind of good shots..........no too often we see a SLUF, ..........also, I've always had a great liking for the Hun since I saw the Thunderbirds fly them "way back when "............

Great shots, Sean!!

MYR was a combination airport / airbase.  The airbase part was close about 1992.  There use to be a squadron of A-10's there.  I think it was the 354th.  I was down there in 1988 and every morning I would get up early get a cup of coffee and go out on my 12th floor bacolny and watch the A-10's cruise up and down the coastline.

some more info.

No, your images are usually very good,...I was just yankin' your chain for the moment....but in fairness, these images are very nice indeed.......the lighting sometimes, can be just where you need it.........this was one of those days for you....... 8-)
