It's a rotten day so I've been looking through some of my old photos. Here's a few from last season at Old Warden. I can't remember posting them before.

I finally got some decent shots of the Bristol M.1C replica in the air. It flies very well but they've had a few engine problems with it.
           

The collection's beautiful 'Brisfit' by the same designer, Captain Frank S. Barnwell. Note the family resemblance.
Captain Barnwell was responsible for a range of Bristol aircraft including the Scout, Bulldog & Blenheim. He was sadly killed in 1938 testing one of his new designs.

Don't suppose you have any of the Parnall Elf? I am informed by the Internet that they have one there....it's just it'd be nice to have a piccie of something that was made at the end of my road

Thanks Mic. I do indeed have some photos of the Elf. I've posted some here before now but it hasn't flown for a while. I'll have to look some out for you. Can't guarantee the quality.

PS. Now you mention it I haven't seen it recently.

The 'shuttlewaffe' - it looks very familiar. Is it the same aircraft that James Garner and Donald Pleasance 'escaped' in, in the film 'the great escape'?

Thanks Mic. I do indeed have some photos of the Elf. I've posted some here before now but it hasn't flown for a while. I'll have to look some out for you. Can't guarantee the quality.

PS. Now you mention it I haven't seen it recently.

Tucked up along with Miss Kenya behind the Comet IIRC. Nice to see some work was being done on the DH88 this week...

I wonder by chance, any chance you having a photo to post of the
SE5a, Brisfit and old Stringbags "Swordfish" all in the air together?

What a picture that would be.

LOL Doug.

It's possible but highly unlikely I might get such a shot this season. The collection's SE5a has just been completely overhauled & ready to go. The RNHF Stringbag is also supposed to be ready this year after a complete rebuild at BAE Systems Brough. I'm not sure if it's flown yet. http://www.royalnavyhistoricflight.org.uk/home/
I've also heard of at least one more Stringbag in the works. The thing is that they are from different wars with no real link except for all being biplanes.

I did get a (not very good) shot of 3, yes three, Bristol Fighters in formation last year at Duxford. Unfortunately I think only the one in my photo above is still in this country.*

But no longer flying... Traded for a Heinkel Salamander which they've now decided is too dangerous to fly.

As for the Stringbag - hasn't flown yet, and hasn't been booked for OW - but with the RNHF you never know...
