While waiting for the bus at KORD, I spied this bunny catching some rays, undeterred by the sparrows who were not keen on having him there, apparently. A hare at O'Hare... sounds like the title of a Bugs Bunny short.

Lorraine and her husband Ken, co-presidents of the Int'l Cessna 120/140 Assoc. and airline pilots (he flies for NW and she for United), are really nice homey folks who I must say are living my dream life... here's their "garage". Not too shabby...

A lousy pic, I know, but I wanted to show the proximity to the runway (second strip of pavement seen here from their humble living room).
I was their overnight guest, and got a free meal and... well, some other perks. More on that later.

Ken's father, who used to fly propliners for AA and is also a fine unassuming guy, was visiting from Dallas (came over on the same bus with me from KORD, in fact) to assist with one of the family projects: a Culver Cadet restoration. I thought about posing them for a nice cheesy portrait, but when I caught them in their more natural state, I thought this was better.

By this morning when I left them, they had fitted the firewall and were trying to sort out how the fuel tank gets mounted. These folks are unstoppable!

I've been promised a ride in this honey... can't wait!!

The family's "company jet", which they use for flights in the "Bonanzasphere" as they call the middle cruise altitudes. ;D
If this impresses you, consider that they used to own a Spartan!! :o
Next: part 2: Cessnas, etc
