Blasted Weather!!!

Postby Triple_7 » Tue Feb 05, 2008 12:17 am

Typical Indiana weather...truly changes by the minute.  Last night they were calling for a LITTLE dusting of snow, then a little bit of sleet, then rain.  At 9PM the snow began coming down so hard it created a white out...by 10PM there was 3.5 inches and it was coming down even harder.  What happened to that DUSTING we were supposed to get :-/  By 10:30 it had let up and then came a little light freezing rain and finally it turned to sprinkles of actually rain.  Getting home from work wasn't really that bad even though the roads had almost 5 inches of snow covering them they were surprisingly not slick at all.

Woke up this morning to a bit warmer temps and quite foggy.  It continued to warm up throughout the day making the fog that much worse.

This was about 5PM tonight, taken at a friends place.  Looking south out over the pasture...at least at the point you could tell there was a road out there.  Couldn't tell there was a house just on the other side but guess you can't have it all ::)

Looking north into the tree line.  Its actually quite close...much farther away and you wouldn't be able to see it at all.

Began the drive back home about 10:15PM...its just under 4 miles, takes no more then 5 minutes on a good traffic day.  Got home just after 10:45PM.  30 minutes to get 4 miles :o  Fog only got worse after sunset as temps continued to rise.  Most areas both in the country and here in town were down to 0 visibility :'(  The drive mainly consisted of guessing where the road was and relying completely on memory as to where the stops are after such and such a hill.  First was a T-road, I could tell I was getting close and started slowing down from the whopping 10 MPH I was going, then nearly went through the sign and into the field on the other side :-[  Then came the long stretch, I couldn't even guess how far I was or even if I was going uphill or down anymore.  Was shocked when I came up on a bridge I figured was still a ways off.  Made it up to the highway, guessed how far I went and hoped the street light I was under was in front of the street I wanted.  Luckily it was :P

Made it home, relaxing, and now its midnight, its 52

I don't know that any weather can compare to kansas weather...last monday it was in the sixties and windy, and then last tuesday it was 20 and snowing.  Yesterday it was in the 50s, and today we are expecting 5 inches of snow ::)

It's the same weather here...It's snowing outside...Funny how things changed overnight...Just yesterday, the sun was out and today, it's overcast yet again...I'm not complaining though, I love precipitation ;D

Pretty much the same here...60 in the morning, 10 and snowing by evening :P We literally see 3 seasons of weather in a matter of 24 hours sometimes. :-/

Late last night we had a severe storm with lightning bad enough I actually unplugged the computer, which is more a spring/summer storm thing.  Lightning was worse then we've seen since early fall.  Basement started flooding with that storm...now its almost an inch deep and rising :'(  Good news is the storm cleared out the fog ::)  Been raining non stop since, at 3PM it started pouring again and hasn't let up one bit, a lot of roads are now shut down due to flooding.  Worse flooding in this area in over 100 years...and this ones looking to top the flood on January 8th, same situation, lots of snow melting off and several inches of rain falling in a matter of hours.  This isn't supposed to even let up till tomorrow afternoon.  It could easily top last months flood which was quite bad.  Just cant get a break anymore.  This is supposed to turn to snow by tomorrow night and then by Sunday the high is only going to be around 10
