Took a quick trip to Lands End Airport today to try out the new camera. Was only there for about 30 minutes and only caught one approach but here it is anyway. I'll hopefully be going back for the whole day next W/E so more then.  ;)

2nd, 4th and 5th are great, i like what you did with the scenery in the second one, and the 4th/5th just look kickass with there scenery/angle.

Very cool.....you might want to drop your shutter speed a bit for those props though, they look a little static at the moment ;)

Also, looking at the last shots, I think the lighting may have been better if you'd been on the other side of the aircraft ;)

Still, very nice for a first time....a nice airfield aswell....I remember my first time at EGGD :D

Welcome to the club...  ;)

Nice first shots. To bad the light wasn't more abundant in those last shots. That would have made them even better.

You also seem to have the jaggie-problem I have. I still haven't found a good way to smooth things over... :(

It's probably down to oversharpening. Can't think of any other way of getting jaggies with a DSLR (except perhaps strange resizing techniques)!

Gliding practice in case of engine failure? ;)
In all seriousness though, you must use a lower shutter speed than that so the props don't look like they've stopped. :)

Cheers!  :)

I was kind of shooting into the sun on the last few shots. I'm still getting used to it but it's already a whole lot better than my old one! Can't wait for another chance to use it for aircraft...  there is conveniently a large gravel mound just next to the main runway at Lands End that is perfect for spotting on as the aircraft come in at head height just in front of you.  8-)

After my birthday in a few weeks I'll be buying this little beauty.  8-)

Yeah, I meant to... they all came out a bit rubbish though. I think the jaggies are indeed down to over-sharpening.

Wowzers...!!

Fantastic shots, Jake!...they all look good to me... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Cessna 172?....;)...!

(I prefer the '150/152...not quite as "nose-heavy" as the '172!...)... ;)...!

Also not quite as fast, not as many seats and less usefull load among other things..... ;)

Here's one of mine... just scroll down to see the photo's.

The jaggies are there after resizing. Sharpening makes them stand out more, but they are there before.

I use photoshop elements and have the bicubic option enabled.

[quote]I lke the look of the 70-200 f2.8 lenses that he sells, but I don't see much chance of getting one of those in the next few years

#2 and #5 are great.  They're not really something you see everyday. 8-)
