As I said over (READ HERE) in the general forum, I am thinking about buying this and restoring it, but I know nothing about antiques...

It would make a fantastic piece if restored, but I am not sure what to offer, and how much I might have to invest in it...

So what do you all think?  Normally I would say forget it, but this a a Travel Air Factory model, so it may be worth a shot at restoration...

Looks like you've got your work cut out for you if you decide to give it a go.  It does look like fun though.

If you're up to the job, I'd say go for it! It certainly is different from all those plastic models ( no offence to the modelers).

It would be very nice to see it restored, but I'm afraid you'll have quite some work on your hands. In it's current state it can't be worth much, and yes you might have to invest wome money, but the satisfaction of completing the restauration and knowing that you made it happen should be more than rewarding.

That's a really nifty piece; never seen anything like it. It could be quite rare, but of course it's a mess, so it's probably not worth much.
The best advice I an offer for restoration is to ask a museum for some pointers-  an aviation museum might even be able to tell you more about it.

I was wondering, I understand that some manufacturers gave models like this to airlines to promote their planes.  This could be something like that...

How are you going to fit inside an airplane that small?

Definitely looks like a "fixerupper".  

the question is, is the metal brittle around the holes, you might be able to patch it with compound and re-fair the lines, of course you'd have to do the same for the insides to, then prime, and paint, then maybe a clear coat, but im not a modeler, i am in the process of learning to be a boat builder
