The truth is out there...

Nothing special, just a clear night, so I tried to capture the heavens above. Unbelievable what amount of stars you can catch with a simple dslr + 18 mm lense.

I tried different settings, but I had these results at iso 800 and manual focussing.

I've found a site that describes this type of photography in detail, so I'd better read that text to improve the results.

you might be able to have a decent go at startrails out in the country....I tried it here in an inner suburb and the light pollution was terrible....

To bad I couldn't get my 300 mm focused on the stars. That's the tricky part, as it has to be done manually and the viewfinder isn't exactly enourmous...

You also got the Pleiades in both shots... the Seven sisters are really something with a little more power. :o

Nice job, Kris!!  I couldn't get anything like that from my house.  To much light pollution here also.
