Ive been wanting to learn the guitar for a while. So I asked my dad and he said my grandpa had given us a "nice" guitar a while back. I thought he was being sarcastic about the nice part, but well....he wasn't... I'm really nervous that ill hurt it somehow though.

WOW thats is a Very nice guitar, if it hasn't been played for a while i suggest you get some new strings for it and if it has been stored for a while best to get it checked over by a Luthier, and are you sure its a genuine Gibson because it has Dot inlays not the normal Gibson ones

Its an early 60's j45. Those had the dot inlays.

Edit: after looking at the serial number, it appears to be a 1961 j45 adj.

More advice: since it cost you nothing, invest n a nice case if it doesn't have one.
Take good care of it, but play it!!
That's a great model Gibson...  :)

Yes, it will hurt a bit at first until you develop calouses on you fingers etc but, it is well worth it.

It's great guitar to learn on.
I would suggest you get a few professional lessons at first to advoid picking up any bad habits.
Also learning on an acustical first will make you a better electric guitar player IMO if/when you get one.

So, get new strings and a case
