Have spent a couple of interesting days out and about with camera, firstly a trip to mid-wales falconry for their owl night flying display, after which there was a chance to meet the birds up close.....these were all with the 100-400 and 430EX.

Guess what this one is....it's a bit like Catchphrase "Say what you see...."

And today, out and about in Betws-y-Coed we went up to Swallow falls, in between the gusting wind, lashing rain, freezing hail and spray...I managed to get some shots as the light faded

22mm, ISO100, f22 and 2" exposure


18mm, ISO100, f22 and 13" exposure


I shot the last few in RAW......got to get better at RAW processing, first few attempts just completely butchered the image

Nice birds... they didn't confuse your tele for a nice big log to sit on?  ;D

But it's the first waterfall shot I like the most! I love the black and white and the movement of the water! Nicely done.

yes Kris, a little over 12 months ago we went on a 3 day course. It has proved very useful, if only to give us the confidence to see that we were at the limits of our ability with the equipment that we had. Hence the tripod and head purchase, then eventually the DSLR, lens, flash....

I could probably have got (for web use) very similar shots to the last two with our old Fuji.

However, to get large prints then the DSLR is so much better. Also to get well exposed indoor shots then the ability to angle and bounce the 430EX flash makes it a hundred times better than the built in flash of any compact
