Last night at work, an engine change greeted me as I walked through the door.

Very cool.  I really like shots 4, 6, and 7.  Very good for a cell phone cam.  Definitely beats my 0.3 mp cell cam. ;D

I'm always impressed to see that they actally pop the cover open and the engine comes out... somehow I always think "is the engine fixed securely enough afterwards?"...  ;D

As a photographer I just have to be amazed by the "2 engines and winglets lit only"-shots! Fantastic!

Thanks Kris, I surprised myself with that shot.

Well done!  8-)
I hope there weren't any fasteners left over when you were finished... ;)

any specific reason for the engine change? or was it just a scheduled overhaul?

Rotty, there are always parts left over.......................................(old seals and gaskets, nuts and bolts that are replaced as a matter of course ;D ;D)

The aircraft is coming to the end of it lease and is due for return. Due to this, it has to be returned in the same state that it was delivered in. It is simpler and cheaper to put the original engines back on than to have to pay out or bill the leasing company for a different engine. It also keeps the paperwork trail neat and tidy. The engine was changed some time back due to lack of thrust. In effect, as the aircraft does not belong to us, we put a loaner part on and now want it back.

The problem there is:

1 Mrs The-ex-pat thinks I have enough hobbies and would rather I did not spend large quantities of cash on a digital SLR...............(But I am 40 next year)
2 Most of my pictures are spur of the moment. To carry around a camera for just in case is not really practical, however, see above. Some things like last night would be possible to plan. However, for day to day, a mobile phone just slips in to the pocket and as I have to carry one for that annoying phone function, it kills two birds with one stone.
