Whew!! what a day... not very many good pictures (I think overall cleobis got a better set at Porto), but I shot a lot of decent video, and of course saw some incredible flying. If you haven't seen one of these races, you owe it to yourself to check it out if the opportunity arises. The usual hassles (crowds, lines, etc) but it's well worth the trouble.

Here's a few to whet your appetites:

First, a look at the second cell to come through and very nearly ruin everything. Figures it hasn't rained in SD in months, and it rains the day of the finals.

     


But it cleared up soon enough... the camera chopper gets some shots of the crowd (70,000 people, or so it was claimed).

     


Wow! A local EOD team shows off their form. These guys were dumped into the bay from this helicopter, then picked up together on one line and flown all over the course line.
Think happy thoughts... ulp!!  :o

Wow...Terrible day for the weather to work up...Glad it cleared up...And yes, I've already made it a note to go to a Red Bull air race...

Thanks for taking us to the races, I have a feeling that your company is going to have to drag you back to NY.
