Thanks for looking!

Never seen Shoreham, but it doesn't even need one of those!

C-130's were made to take-off and land in extremely small spaces, such as a cleared out area of a forest during Vietnam!

One tough plane ;)

Why compress them so much....you can get at least another 25k out of most of them  to stay in the 500k limit ;)

Nice shots....i'm glad the second day happened for you :)

Quite - the RAF examples do grass strip operations quite frequently - I don't know if it's something they'd do at a public event though. :)

If I remember correctly a Hercules landed in a field near Ternhill/Shawbury about 7 or 8 years ago, and sank!

Was stuck for a couple of days before they dragged it out and it was able to get off again  ::)

Glad you enjoyed the show. ;) Looks like you had better weather today than we did at Popham.

This is not the first time a C-130 has landed at Shoreham but according to the commentator it was the first time one has used the hard runway.

I believe the largest aircraft ever to land & take off from Shoreham was a Blackburn Beverley at an air show in around 1959. That was long before we had a hard runway.

Thanks all - didn't see you there, Doug - I was wearing a top hat with a rolled up umbrella under me arm! Nah, not really.

I was just surprised that they'd get a monster like Hercules into (and out of) Shoreham, but in the event, it seemed to take off with room to spare. The Catalina was pretty sizeable too.

Since Shoreham is my default FS9 airport, it's going to feel pretty deserted there next time I start up! Perhaps somebody ought to do a Shoreham Air Show scenery...

The hard runway's nearly 3500ft. Looking at a chart I'd say it's width would be more limiting at only 60ft (blimey that's narrow!)

A little piece of useless info from your old mate Hagar. There was very little wind on Saturday & they were using runway 20 for take-offs. The commentator (Peter Eager who is also the display coordinator) said that if this changed they would have to stop all trains passing the airfield while the C-130 took off. The railway line runs along the southern boundary of the airport & there was a serious risk of a train being derailed. The top brass of the railway company were honoured guests at the show. Just one of the many little things they have to think about when organising a show like this.
