Interesting. There is an historic town named Lewes not far from me. Lewes used to be a thriving port but the river is no longer navigable. It is still the county town of East Sussex & has an 11th Century castle, Crown court & a prison among other attractions. ;) http://www.lewesonline.com/v_leweshistory.php

I don't know how you pronounce your Lewes. Ours is pronounced Loo - iss.
