My little monsters...

For those few to whom I haven't rattled on for hours about my twins, here's an introduction to them.  Their names are Alexander, who has recently decided he wants to be called Alex and is VERY firm about it, and Olivia, who has decided she is really a princess and also is VERY firm about that!

These two are exact polar opposites of each other.  Where he is reserved, a bit shy and introverted, thoughtful and very neat, even getting himself up at almost exactly 7:00 AM every morning, she is outgoing, adventurous, TOTALLY fearless about everything, a bit of a bully and will sleep until noon if you let her.

Alex, who also has just discovered he wants to learn guitar and goes ballistic when we go near the music store.  I don't know where he gets it, as I don't play a note.

and Olivia who decided she would cut her own hair a few weeks back because she couldn't see her eyebrows... ::)  :)

They are 5 1/2 and start kindergarten in about two weeks, which is sure to be very tearful for mommy, but which they are extremely proud of.  :)

Thanks guys, they're turning into regular miniature humans before my eyes.  They're making their own decisions about things, dressing themselves, pouring their own drinks, and making me feel REAL old...  :D

When he was born he had a condition called 'Craniosynostosis.  It's basically where your plates in your skull fuse together too early and your face becomes mis-shapen.  It can eventually lead to retardation, and even death if not treated.  Fortunately, he had surgery for it at seven months of age and that is the only sign, besides a zig-zag shaped scar under all of that hair.  It must not have affected him developmentally because he's sharp as a tack and in addition to his musical leanings (which I attribute to playing Mozart every night at bedtime), he is showing talent in the math department, which his teacher says may actually be because of the Mozart also.

Olivia is showing skill in art and science as well.  She loves bugs, lizards, and anything with more than two legs.  She had a spider crawl on her arm one day, and it scared the bejesus out of her.  After daddy killed the thing, she had to come over, stoop down and check the thing out. :)  My little scientist...
