In keeping with the do-it-yourself theme of AirVenture, here's a few kits and plans-built birds:

A Meyers Little Toot, done up like the original... people have been building and flying these for 50 years.

A Wittman Tailwind... we'll be looking at Steve Wittman's earlier designs later... he's the patron saint of the EAA, and this airport was named after him.

A Scheider SX300... looks fast, don't it?

Image

Speaking of fast, here's a BD-5 with a jet engine. Very, um, unusual presentation... :D

The Seawind- a future classic, I think.

Didn't see this monowheel Europa on the display line, but I watched it depart. I like these things...

This Rutan Quickie has been flying for almost 20 years.

This gorgeous Falco is ready for anything...

Strange to think Steve Wittman would have been 103 now - the tailwond still looks very modern. A true legend, and one of few people to be killed in one of their own aircraft designs (in their 90s...)...

You can't really beat the Falco for design. Beautiful. :)

I like that Rutan design, very distinctive as a Rutan.....and is that  Vari-Eze in the background, there is a resident one of those at Sleap I believe........
