Ruiselede, 23:30h last night... all seems quite...

Image

About ten minutes later, the clouds are lit up time after time, by lightning in the clouds... so I go out wiyh my tripod to do some experimenting...

Image

Yet In the dark I saw a massive front comming on, and the wind was picking up fast... I just got in on time to capture my first bolt...

Image

Quickly followed by more fire in the sky!

Image

To bad it started raining after that... so windows closed and enjoying the show! ZAP!

Image

This one did not come out of my wall!  ;D

Image

Only one groundhitting bolt captured, but the shot is unsharp...

Nice to see I can get this stuff with my camera.

Cheers,

Omag

8 seconds shutter-priority... the longest my camera will go. I still was amazed by the result.

Great shots Kris, I always wanted to give that a try. I like the rain on the window effect.

Good work Kris.......one bit of advice - if you have the option, try to set manual focus to infinity and it should get rid of some of the raindrops on the window..........other than that, you did well considering you only have 8 seconds to work with....... 8-)

Did you set an aperture smaller than F-8 ?......my choice for night shots is usually 8 or 11 to help gain depth of field, but what you captured is more than just adequate....... ;D

I did some of that last summer and have wanted to this summer but lost the part the connects my camera to the tripod. I'm a little mad cause I was really excited about shooting it this year.  Its amazing what you can do even with 8 sec as I'm in the same boat.  Its fun stuff but you seem to have a better quality camera then mine.

Great shots Kris. With my FZ7, you can set the aperture lower like Ken said, to be able to get all the way up to 60/1. Not sure if the FZ5 has that capability.

No manual focus on my camera... later versions have it and I'd really like to have that feature!

As I normally shoot in shutter-priority, I let the camera handle the apperature, though I might experiment a bit next time.
