So, some of Frankenthal, the place where I stayed and Hambacher

Can I just ask our german members why they need to know that a tiny overgrown footbath wont be gritted.....ah well...only in Germany ;)
Image

Our first barbeque....quickly eaten before being chased off by a German farmer for throwing apples at his house :D

The castle itself (the intact looking building is a reconstruction with a museum in, the actual castle is the ruins sloping down the foreground

The Luftwaffe in action...only had my compact and it was quite high....they were flying over frequently when we were in Neustadt, we also got a formation of four Tornados and a tanker of some description and it looked like they were refuelling (white vapour trailing for a few seconds......) Unfortunately no pics, as I grabbed my friends super zoom camera but had no idea how to use it :D)

Bonus points for anyone who knows what happened at Hambacher ;)

Why would you throw apples at some poor Germans? It's not like they were invading Belgium or anything...  ;D

We were actually seeing how far we could throw them...using the roof of the house as a marker...a few of us got them over the roof whilst others hit windows  ::) :-/ ::)

The Hambacher Fest 1848, the prelude to democracy in Germany (took a while to get into action 'tho).

That came straight from the back of my mind.

- Edit: Had a look. It was 1832. Feck!
