More... and more to come.

A Douglas Dolphin- never seen one before. I like the kooky sesquiplane wing on top of the engines.

Speaking of amphibians, here's a nice Goose:

This Widgeon, this plane you see here, once was used to sink a German U-boat. Not sure how they managed that exactly, but if the boat's guns were working, it must have been very interesting. ;D

I can't remember what this is, although I know what it was used for... anybody else know?

It's a shame that most of the really cool planes here are midnight blue, and displayed in poor light... but
I just had to try to capture this Tigercat. I love Tigercats!!
The Navy, however, was not crazy about them. They did very well in the air, test pilots raved about them, but with their heavy weight and poor single-engine stability, they were deemed unsuitable for carrier ops.

Another view of this classic beauty.

Looks like something made by Interstate. I'm not sure of the specific model, but I think it was used as a radio control bomb?

Correct-amundo... I think the operator followed it in another aircraft (out of range of the enemy's guns).

So pretty much an american version of the Mistel.

TDR-1. http://stagone.org/drone-control.html

Similar idea but the drone was not attached to the mother plane.

Pretty much the same concept, in terms of getting a precise shot at a target without directly risking a pilot's life.
Also: there being no pilot and no need for return-trip fuel, more payload could be dedicated to the explosive. ;D

Still doesn't look as big as a Ju-88 airframe to me. ;)
