Top-floor views

Decided to sit on the balcony outside the nightclub on the 12th floor of the casino today to eat my lunch... no air traffic except birds, but here are a few snaps.

The pool area is shaping up... the palm fronds will take a while to grow back, but with the sod laid in and the pool finally filled, it looks pretty good. We installed about 30 "mushroom" speakers, scattered throughout the area, as well as some underwater speakers in the pool (no, really)... and under the lip of that circular bar roof, about 8 large bins powered by something like 1500 watts total. The owner is adamant that the pool bar music be heard next door at the Beau Rivage. ;D

The bar is sweet- it has a swim-up area, with submerged stools. A true hallmark of civilization. ;D

There's also a portable PA for pool parties-mini line-arrays with four massive subs. I'll be posting some pics of that later.

Looking NW... those water towers more or less represent the footprint  of Keesler AFB. Not a whole lot going on there on any given day; especially when I have the camera handy. ::)
As it turns out, my half-brother was stationed there for two years in the 60s when he was being trained as a radar tech.

Looking east: excellent visibility today.

These guys are well-equipped to do a little fishin'...

Fewer pelicans than usual today, but I caught this pair in typical loose echelon formation, at a rare moment when they were flapping their wings. With a better breeze, they glide with incredible efficiency, especially in ground effect very low over the water.

Thanks for the nice look there Sean. I don't see how I'll ever make my way down there, so what you present to us is much appreciated....... 8-)

Biloxi, MS. I've been through it once or twice. I assume you are down there in some sort of capacity to repair hurricane damage?

Sort of... we're re-installing (and upgrading) the audio/visual systems at the casino, which was just about to open when Katrina hit. Meanwhile, every other trade is there re-doing their parts... the only thing that didn't get totally trashed was the giant guitar, oddly enough.
