Some C-5 snaps

Here are some pictures I took of a C-5 unloading vehicles during one of the Presidents visits.  Its amazing how much crap they can load into one of those things.  One or two of the pics had to be resized in order to keep them within 100kb.

All of that came out of that C-5, minus the fuel truck and the pickup you see in the foreground.

Looking from the tail to the open nose ramp.  Yours truly is one of those dark profiles down there (a student took this one for me.)

Poppin' a squat.

The C-5 is one butt-ugly aircraft...but amazingly enough able to carry two or three M-1A2s...

Someone somewhere in these pages at sometime in the recent past said that something that big couldn't fly. Maybe they were talking about the An-325...

From what I understand, and correct me if I am wrong because I probably am, but the landing gear is referred to as a kneeling system.  They are able to lower the cargo floor to truck bed height to make it easier for loading and unloading.  Now, I have no clue as to how they do it.  Most likely though a hydraulic system.  They can also raise an individual landing gear assembly for maintenance, i.e. changing tires and servicing of the oleo strut.

That was the 325.  Anything is flyable if its made aerodynamic enough and given enough thrust and runway.

I don't know of any other aircraft that looks better, including all the Russian copy cats. ;)
