Awesome catch! Your lucky that you don't see these too often, that way it makes it more special and exciting when you do. Whereas for me they're buzzing around like no-bodies business and waking me up at 3am!  >:( ::) ;D

We get C-5s every now and then.  They come in to shoot instrument approaches and hang around the traffic pattern sometimes.  Sucks when they do because we have to wait at least 2 minutes prior to takeoff on the parallel runway due to wake turbulence.  When they're doing touch-and-goes it can be a long wait sometimes.  I have some pics of those as well that I'll get around to posting later.

More likely to be 767s and MD-11s (Lufthansa Cargo, UPS, etc).

Plus, if I was to be woken up at 3am by An-124s, I wouldn't be too annoyed! BMI Baby 737s, however... ;D

Seen a 124 at EDDP a while ago. Wasn't as huge as I expected.

Nice snaps 'though.

I totally agree with that, i think its sized is pretty hyped up, i saw 2 a few days ago and they didn't shock me by the size of them, also it took of and climbed more quickly than a c-130

Did you guys see them next to "normal" planes? My first encounter with this model was at EBOS... it dwarfed all the other planes...

An-124
Wing Span = 240 feet 6 inches (73.30 meters) thats 60 feet shy of a football field.
Length = 226 feet 9 inches (69.1m)
Height = 68 feet 2 inches (20.78m)
Wing area = 6760 square feet (620.0m2)

B777-200
Wing Span = 199 feet 11 inches (60.93m) 2/3 the length of a football field
Length = 209 feet 1 inch (63.93) compare that to the wingspan of the 124
Height = 60 feet 9 inches (18.51m)
Wing Area = 4605 square feet (427.8m2)

Cessna 172
Wing Span = 32 feet 10 inches (10.92m)
Length = 27 feet 2 inches (8.28m)
Height = 8 feet 10 inches (2.68m)

*all dimensions retrieved from airliners.net

A "normal" plane is just a bug on the windscreen
