No not some F4's
This display was awesome, The commentator asked the entire crowd to be silent to recreate a wartime scenario of the base awaiting the return of the final Lancaster to its home. And everyone did as asked, you dont realise how noisey an airshow is even during a quiet period till the entire crowd goes silent. Then the way the sound of the merlins just hits you, not even a build up in noise its just suddenly there. Incredible.
Off in the distance a familiar shadow about to dissapear behind the trees. We're asked to be silent.

About now your hit by the sound of the Merlins

Returning home the silence is broken

Beautiful paintwork this year.

And off she goes, what a way to end the day.

Terrific!!!  8-)
I had the honor of not only standing close by for engine start-up of the Candian Lanc and seeing it in flight (at the Reading airshow last year), but I got to crawl through it on the ramp, as well. A very fine design, and such an important part of military aviation history... nothing like a Lancaster! ;D

That was a fine show. Too bad I couldn't make it this year. Actually, it was this weekend. Today probably got rained out though.

:-? What's up Charlie? Surely you wouldn't have preferred F4's.....although I suppose in some senses they would have been even more rare these days than a Lanc  ;)
