Here's a few British classics. Only 3 Miles aircraft turned up & I was disappointed not to see more DH types.

Arriving from Old Warden. Peter Holloway's immaculate Miles Magister, (actually the Hawk Trainer 3 civil version). I believe there are now only 3 airworthy Maggies in the world. Two live at Old Warden.

Two Miles Messengers. These are becomng very rare now.

Peter Bishop flew his beautiful example all the way from Hamburg to be here. He force-landed another Messenger G-AJOE in a Dutch field on the way here last year. It's currently being rebuilt.

A nice Auster J1 Autocrat.
Image

The BA Swallow with Pobjoy Niagara radial up front. You won't see many of these around now.

Four DH types. First a lovely Leopard Moth in original DH scheme. My photo doesn't do it justice.
Image

A beautiful Hornet Moth. At least 3 of these turned up.

OK, the Chippie is a DHC design but most of them were built at Hatfield. A nice selection of these was on show.

Another rare sight nowadays. The Mayfair Dove giving pleasure flights.

Love 'em all, particularly that 104.  :) the only one I've ever seen with my own eyes was a fuselage rotting in a ditch next to the airport in Reading, PA.   :'(

Were you allowed to walk around the planes? Looks like an amazing event!

It's all pretty informal. Just my sort of event. Most of the aircraft arrive by 12.30 when they drop the ropes for a couple of hours. You can have a wander round & chat to the owners. ;)

Then everyone goes back behind the ropes & they all start up & take off again. :D
