Finally we're off for the coast: sliding between layers at FL350.

     

The gulf coast appears:

     


Keesler AFB... KGPT is not far to the west.

Some major turbulence as we descend again... not much movement, but it was hard, like we were hitting rocks.Worst I've ever experienced- and not fun. But boy were the clouds beautiful...

     



As we roll out in light rain, I catch a glimpse of the GA ramp (KGPT is a smallish class D airport)... hoping to pay a visit soon and see about renting a plane. The site super is itching to go flying with me (naive fool that he is), so his financial contribution could make for a good flight or two.

I'd forgotten it's been two years already... Biloxi is not as bad as I'd thought it would be. Lots of rebuilding, although there are many empty foundations or houses that have been written off but not torn down yet. To my delight, there's still plenty of local flavor around- you definitely get the feel that you're on the Gulf.  Went to a place called The Shed last night for some of the best fucking BBQ I've ever had... next time we go there, I'll try to take some photos. It's a pretty funky place. And did I mention the BBQ is fucking phenomenal?
