Farewell to a big cat

Spent the day at Coningsby for the flypasts by 6 Squadron to mark the end of operational flying. Nice weather but a strong breeze made photographing difficult. Not the absolute end of Jag flying, but may well be the last time I see them. Just a couple of shots of the stars for now, as I'm bushed. Nice to see Tweek again, thanks for the company. :)

Wow, that's some nice flying, and some nice pictures. ;)

I really like the "6", it took me second, but it's clever. 8-)

Impressive! I always wonder what happens to all those planes that go out of service... surely they will keep some around as museumpieces and airshowplanes...

A few are given to museums, but most of 'em are sent to kingdom come.

Always sad to see the "last display" of something, may it be an army batallion or a squadron.

Or sent to RAF Cosford for storage. ;)

This was the Jaguar's last day of operational service, but 6 Squadron will be disbanding on 25th May, which is when the last Jaguar flypasts will be (which I hope to be at).

they will probably be given the same treatment as the Tomcats!
some to museums, the rest just sitting in the boneyard!
i doubt that any will still be flying!
it would be nice to see though!
