As I suspected, "Lake" is sort of a brand name... Consolidated is the actual manufacturer.

I think it's a similar story to the Piel Super Emeraude in my recent topic. The original manufacturer has been taken over several times. The LA4 started life as the Colonial Skimmer. Lake Aircraft purchased the manufacturing and design rights in October 1959. The Lake LA4, Buccaneer & Renegade
