Simple Tranquility...& A Couple Randoms

Started clearing off my cameras memory cards since I burned all the pictures to a CD the other night.  Came across a couple of my favorites from Taiwan.  While most of my 3 week stay was spent in the city we took a trip around to the other side of the island during my last few days.  Pictures cant even begin to describe the beauty and peacefullness of the mountains.  It was more then I could have ever asked for, and a great ending to the trip :)  Just thought I would share them before they are deleted from the computer ;)

This first shot was accualy taken off a deck on the second floor of a McDonalds in the city of Danshui (Northern tip of Taiwan).  Even though the city itself wasnt that peacefull the shore line was.  This was taken only a few days after I arrived, we had went there for the night market...which is nothing more then wall to wall people :o

Now to the trip, this was taken on the second day, we were somewhere in the middle of the eastern side.  Went hiking for several hours through one of the most beautiful areas I've ever seen, so many ancient looking mountains or the ocasional waterfall.  This was the my favorite shot of the whole trip.  The double waterfall and the setting 8-)  Photo definatly wont give the same impression as accualy standing there :o

And heres a couple randoms to include.  This was taken not to long after we reached the other side.  Lighting wasnt the best do to a big tree blocking the sun.  Not sure where it was other then its near an entrance to a national park.  Never seen the Pacific so blue, also incredibly quiet and a nice cool breeze off the ocean.  Wished we would have spent more time there, only stopped for 1/2 hour or so.

This one was not taken by me...after I returned to the states I found a spotter who was out the morning of August 1st when I arrived to Taipei.  Due to the early arrival he wasnt there to catch a landing shot.  But he did have this one as my bird begins its takeoff roll for Kuala Lumpur.  Glad to have this shot since I couldnt get any from the terminal.  First ride on a 747, registration 9M-MPN, took me from LAX-TPE.  I was really hoping to be on one of Malaysias Hibiscus 747s but wasnt that lucky.  Still like their normal livery though.  But will never fly them again :-[  Spotter who took this shot can be found on Jetphotos.net under the name STARYUAN.

And just a quick google earth out of curiosity.  Heres just a taste of the road we took through the mountains.  Sad part is this stretch is accualy kind of strait compaired to the rest of it :-/  Lots of ups and downs, sharp turns, 1000+foot drop offs...all good fun just so the driver keeps it on the road...otherwise say bye bye land...looking out the window and seeing nothing but open air and another mountain side a good mile away...almost makes you wish cars could fly just incase you take an unexpected detour ;D

Now I sit here at 3:15 AM in a cold Indiana wishing I was back on that island enjoying the peace, quiet, and most of all warmth :P  Then again...I dont want to stay in the city...ill park myself on the viewing area where the 2nd shot was taken [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

looks like a very beautiful country but as for the cliffside roads they can keep them to themselves i have a bit of a fear about driving alongside cliffs lol  8-)
