english-to-phonetic potuguese dictionary...
Posted: Fri Jan 12, 2007 12:56 pmWorking this week on a sound system in a very nice "churrasco" restaurant out here in Illinois... most of the servers are Brazilian, so they have these helpful signs in the kitchen to help them talk with the customers.
What I don't get is why there is no translation of the phrases in Portuguese, just these amusing-looking phonetic versions...which do make some sense, as many sounds are different in Portuguese, even consonant sounds. But... it's odd.
Maybe most of these guys read English better than they pronounce it...?
Anyway, they're pretty funny- the result is like fake Portuguese... enjoy. :D
