JFK-BOS pt1
Had to fly from JFK to Boston for work yesterday; kinda wish I'd driven by the time it was over, but always nice to go flying, and my first time w/Jet Blue was pleasant. Making sure it doesn't look like just any airport (toer IDs this as KJFK), here's a look at the equipment: another A320 at the gate. cool little airliner.
Up at 0400 after a lousy night's sleep, 1 hr taxi ride to airport, 2 1/2 hr wait for flight, taxi seemed endless. I was done before we took off... then I'd be driving from boston to natick and working until 1800. Glamorous.
Nice view of JFK post-takeoff:
A good VFR pilot is always looking for traffic...
After a climbing 180, looking west towards NYC, etc. Nice weather.
La Guardia Airport. Just beyond the airport, on the left, you can see narrow roosevelt Island in the East River... on the opposite bank, at the tip of that island is where that Cirrus collided with a building. this picture shows pretty well why they really should have turned over the east bank and not over the island in the middle of the river. A friend who'd flown up and down that corridor many times told me he'd always turned farther south, abeam the UN... the river's wider there. Oh well.
Sikorsky Memorial Airport (Bridgeport, Conn.):
