That Moth pilots left his door open. Do think it might cause the cockpit to become a bit draughty?

Great shots Doug as usual. Always think a classic like a Moth looks a tad strange with a pilot with full flight gear. He should have some goggles and a scarf!

The modern headset looks a little out of place over the leather helmet but he was actually wearing goggles & a RAF-style sheepskin flying jacket. See this shot.* http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/da-IMG_4279shm.jpg
I would associate a scarf with WWI aircraft.

I can imagine what that Moth pilot was muttering when he realized the door was open... hope he had his hot-water bottle, too!
...and it's not even officially winter yet!!

Wahey, a Grob Tutor.  Underpowered yes, fun...YES!  Nice photos Hagar, and yeah that is lovely weather for England!

Never seen it before & they look completely different in RAF markings. This chap puts on a wonderful display for an underpowered aircraft.

Roald Dhal said that a silk scarf was essential when he was training in Tigermoths. But he was quite tall and stuck out of the cockpit rather more than is usual.

My comment was obviously misinterpreted by more than one person!

The Tutor shown is a G115A (technically not a Tutor at all, as the Tutor is the G115E and the Navy Heron was the G115D), the original 115 from the early/mid 90s, which has little more power than the average Cessna 152.

The RAF UAS's and AEFs use the 115E which has 180hp (and could do with 200hp), and is a lot more capable, given careful energy management! Not that I've flown them much!!! 8-) The reason they look a lot different is they have the extra canopy framing and a lack of sweepback on the fin...

The two most fun to fly must be the Yak an the moth...nice photos
