Vans RV-8 at Alexandria

I forgot I had these photos. :P These are from the same trip to Alexandria where I posted those shots of the C140 and Aeronca. In between the Aeronca's touch and go's, this RV-8 came zipping in on crosswind, and shortly after on final. This little bugger is fast! Alexandria is tough to spot from while landing on runway 26 because there's a large hanger just in the way of the threshold. So you can't even hear the whisper of the props as they come in. That is, without getting right next to the runway. ;) Next time I go back, I need to stay at the threshold more to catch some more action. Enough chitchat. :)

Again, sorry for the blurries. Caught me off guard.

And never mind the filenames. I thought this was an RV-4 until I saw the "RV-8" on the cowling. ;)

There's one leftover from that day. That's next. :)

You should make friends with the owner of that RV... the 4 is fun, and I'll bet the 8 is a treat, too.
That Breezy, too (in the other post) ... I really would like to try one of those someday.

Excellent sets!!  8)

The easiest way to tell a RV-4 from an -8 is the main gear.  The 4's gear have a sweep back to them, the -8 are almost 90 degrees from the fuselage.

I've never seen him around here before. However he did taxi over to the north hangars, so I assume he's based here. In any case, I don't think that's his main ride. ;)

Nice shots, James!! :)

Looks like a good place to do some GA spotting.  I bet during the summer it gets to be pretty busy!!
