Last part.....
An X craft with mines on each side. This is just like the X crafts used in the attack on the Tirpitz as seen in the film 'Above us the waves'.

The tiny interior

This particular X-craft's history.

I went to the Submarine museum about 10 years ago when it was all fairly bare bones and gritty. I believe they've really revamped the whole thing now so I'm sure it's far better now than it was, and it wasn't bad then.
A good set of pictures.

Not something you see every day... fascinating.
Reminds me I've never taken any pictures inside Growler, the early cruise-missile-toting sub that's parked alongside Intrepid.
When they re-open the museum, I'll probably go back for another photo-essay of both.

Excellent. I visited last year but the new display hall was still under construction. I must go back again now it's all finished. Did you have time to visit the Explosion! museum just down the road? It makes an interesting day out & there's lots of history in Gosport.

Blimey, great set of shots... those tubes are so cramped... imagine living there with so many other sailors...

Submarines give me the willies..

I can't think of anything worse than spending hours, days or even months under the sea with no natural light... The Kursk did nothing for my phobia either...

Good pics mind,
Rob.
