Whats the air stuff.....

I mean booms and sail etc.

I have never wind surfed before but my next move back to the Florida Keys I may endeavor myself.

Yeh its a awesome sport to get into if you have time, which is the key word with this sport! Takes sooooo long to learn, but even with that aside you seem to spend twice as long rigging/de-rigging and travelling as you do on the water! Other than that though, one of the best sports out there, definatley an adrenaline rush...and so many levels to take it to...freestyle...waves...slalom  :)

haha right. It kills me to say it, but if your gonna start one i would have to suggest kitesurfing...how its going these days. Its just so much faster to learn, and more 'portable' (you can just strole down to the beach with a kitebag on your back and board, whereas its easy to fill a van with windsurfing kit!). + even I (a windsurfer) have to admit it looks pretty cool, im always sailing along side (or past ) the kitesurfers, and then they will just take to the skies, easily get 50ft+.

I windsurf whereever its windy really, my local play area is just 'Branksome Chime', which is my local beach. Pretty cool place, can get nice and wavey depending on wind direction.

I went on holiday about 2 months ago in Dahab, like a surfing holiday, and that is AMAZING. Like force 5-7 each day, and really flat as its off-shore wind, so great for blasting. But theres also a 'kamikaze' area on the otherside of the reef which is for the wavesailers, so its got a bit of everything. Truely a windsurfing Mecca. Hoping to go and teach out there during my gap year as it happens, so fingers crossed

btw i've heard good things about the conditions in Florida

Yup that links right, where i sale...also mentions Poole Harbour, which is an awesome spot for learning. Think its one of the biggest natural harbours in the world, but the great thing about it is its like 1m deep wherever you go, so you can always touch the bottom! So for practicing new moves etc its second to none, cos' worst case you can just walk back in!

Just thinking about the keys though, you got a lotta not so friendly fish around there don't ya? lol im so freaked by sharks...even in england

My ethos on watersports is that if you cannot do it while drinking beer, then it's probably not worth doing. I also like to have the option of staying dry should I want to. So all boards are out.

Ahhh!  The keys,
I do a lot of scuba diving down there,  it's true the stingrays are dossal,  I have given them a shot of compressed air from my regulator before.
They seem to get an inviting rush from it,  and also the sand sharks are supposed to be the aggressive small sharks in the 20 to 50 feet that we dive,
They are really sweethearts.  I have starred them down,  then they look at you like your nuts and puff away they go. Ones to watch are nurse, blacktip and lemon sharks,  not very many maybe deeper but all you have to do to get rid of them is hit them with your fist in the snout and they head out,  and also your best friend is always around looking out for you is the bottlenose dolphin.  When a shark sees a dolphin they hit the road.
There are a lot of dolphin swimming about the keys.
They seem to love people.
A dolphin can swim up to 45 miles per hour and can ram a shark with its snout knocking it to its demise.

Does it have a hydro-foil attachment, can't tell. But looks like it's a smooth rider!
