I'd still prefer the Nimrod inside though... Tough piece of kit to end up looking like that...





After an engine fire it was ditched in the Moray Firth in the north of Scotland.




Very interesting. I had no idea this place existed.



The Owner says that any further restoration will damage the unique story of the aircraft (or something like that).

....to cut a long story short, thankfully they managed to ditch before the wing burnt through, and the RAF lost one of its highest value aircraft.

Yes, one of only three of this type. Ironically, it was also the first test flight of the first Nimrod given to a civy firm for servicing.

Indeed it was on a flight test. Of course, technically, it is now one of four, albeit slightly unservicable and mostly scrapped!
