ORA 9-30-06 part 7

One of the best things about the Aerodrome is that visitors with interesting aitrcraft often show up. One could come here after they stop collecting money at the door and see a free show on almost any weekend. I'm glad I was still waiting for my ride when this immaculate 1946 Aeronca 7AC made its departure:

I was hoping this 1969 Piper Aztec would be heading out while I was there... not much fun on one engine, but with both plants working, it's a good performer. Watch this:

Taking advantage of the dead wind to use the hill on the south end of the strip:

Perfect short 'n' soft: one notch of flaps, elevator neutral as soon as it came off the wet grass to wait for climbing speed...note the heavy right rudder.

By the time the gear comes up, they're well clear of the trees and they have another airport to the north already within easy reach if anything goes wrong. Piece of cake.
